Project background
To help drive forward the energy transition in Germany, the Ranft Group is building a 5 MWp ground-mounted system in Obergessertshausen (Bavaria). Sheep grazing is also planned for the area, which has several advantages:
- Simple and usually the most cost-effective care option
- Environmentally friendly, careful maintenance of the areas.
- In contrast to mechanical mowing, there is no risk of dust formation or damage to the panels from falling rocks.
- Constant checks by the shepherd on the facility at irregular times significantly reduce the risk of theft and vandalism.
- Visually recognizable damage can be repaired more quickly thanks to the shepherd's control
- Grazing can reduce the occurrence of mouse runs and molehills on the site.
- The use of near-natural sheep grazing as a maintenance method is compatible with ecological power generation and meets with a high level of public acceptance.
